Mankowska was a non-Jew and a midwife who lived in the same building as Jurek Francuz, No. 15 Rynek. When Yurig returned to Klodawa after the war, he went to his building, and it was she who told him what had happened to his family. She took him in and wanted him to stay; it was still too dangerous for Jews to be seen in public.
